It sometimes lags and crashes on android. Pls look into it. Thankyou

This was a really fun experience! The characters are all great, the story isn't afraid to play it goofy, and the writing is competent enough to juggle multiple threads at a time without it being overwhelming. I think the variety of the humour adds a lot, too, having both great visual and dialogue aspects that just hook me right into the silliness of it all. The art direction, much like the story, isn't afraid to let loose and just have fun. I can tell some of these songs are gonna get lodged in my brain whether I want them to or not.

For development's sake, here are a few things that I think the team could focus on that aren't directly related to adding new content:

- There are a few grammatical errors and context slip-ups throughout the game (such as objects being described differently at different points in time—e.g. the flashlight the player gets at the beginning of Chapter 0) that can easily be fixed up with a bit of proofreading.

- I think the way in which the battle mechanics are described could be a little more user-friendly. I, unfortunately, have a slow brain, and I wasn't able to absorb all the battle system's info on a single read-through. Maybe you could allow the player to more easily revisit the explanations in some way as they play? Or, if there is a way to revisit this info, maybe it could be more apparent where to find that info?

- Personally, I found that the beginning of Chapter 0 was pretty jarring to be dropped into. This is a personal thing, but I think adding maybe just a teeny bit more to Chapter 0—whether that be extra time devoted to explaining the setting, the characters, what have you—could go a long way in making the beginning of the story more approachable. Chapters 1 and 2 don't have this issue for me.

- The dice stuff is still a work-in-progress, so I don't expect that aspect of the battle system to be perfect yet. However, I think an extra line or two explaining to the player what the extra dice are, why they should consider using them, etc., would make that feature of the game feel more natural. As it is now, I swapped my dice once and never thought about it again (I was on the regular difficulty).

These are all more nitpicks than anything, but I figured it might help guide the development of the game! I'm definitely excited to see where this game goes in the future! You all have something really special here, and from what I've seen of the writing, the art, and, really, everything, this project is in good hands.

(god I need to learn how to properly end reviews without filling them with sap)

I thought I might've posted this question before, but are there instructions on how to get to chapter select? I played before on a different device but now I'd like to resume the game where I last was on my new device. (Android) Thank you.

(+3)

I haven't played in a while but last time I played there wasn't really any choice to romancing the love interests, has that changed or is that something that won't be in the VN? I really hope Atlas is romanceable. Besides that question, this VN is really good and high quality! Looking forward to catching up on what I've missed!

(+3)

there will be romance options, we're just trying to make the romancing build a bit more slowly, there's basically only one event that could be romantic at the moment other than the hangouts which are more at the friend level

(+1)

whens the next update? jamie is my favorite so far!

(+1)

personally i love august butttttt jamie was 100% my second choice lmao!!

(+1)

ikr! i can't wait for more!

(+1)

SAMEEEE i played the whole game in one night but now I'm wishing i paced myself a bit lmao

(+3)

Atlas is too precious i cant TuT

(+1)

No complaints so far btw, only issue i've had is sometimes ui is a bit to small on mobile, and when i exit the app and return its just a black screen and i have fully close and restart the app. great game otherwise!

(+2)

yo, i just wanted to say that the website dailyghostwatch (added as a joke?) that is linked from one of the pictures up top is marked as maliscious by multiple software and when i opened it it linked to a bunch of probably bad sites before linking to jeep. There's a lot of php code and idk if this was intended.

(+3)

Why are all the men in this vn so good I wanna date them all :(

(+3)

We have 2 dilfs that give me 2 different kinds of daddy issues,  a pathetic 'old' man, a scrunkly who never gets his beauty sleep, a dumbass genius, a dumbass dumbass, and a dumbass dumbass who's also a god. They are so close to perfection and all they need to do is be real :(

Does this VN contain NSFW?

(+1)

I'm pretty sure there isn't an NSFW in the current version

How to get X rank on every boss: A combat guide on a visual novel game by Aqua/Clover (call me either :3)

Each boss fought in this guide was accessed through the boss selection menu. This can be accessed from the main menu by selecting Start and then the "Send me to the Fights!" dialogue option. I say this because if for some reason there are any differences between the boss fights in the full game and the ones in the selection menu, these strategies may not work.

Everything I say here is not absolute. These strategies are not the only way to get X rank, nor are my recommendations, but this is just how I got X rank personally. I know this may seem obvious, but I want to be clear that you don't need to min-max a visual novel's combat system to enjoy it.

Set-up and optional cheesy stuff

You may want to re-spec your player character to better fit the role they'll play in the strategies. My main stats are Brains and Charm. If you are interested, here is how you get my build. First open the start menu and select "I want to change some gameplay things." Then select "I want to redo my stats!" Now for the questionnaire select the following options: "It's less about the drink and more about the presentation." "I've got noodle arms..." "Taking the necessary precautions to prevent my mirror doppelganger from replacing me at night." "I'm never afraid to ask questions." "Wandering around town!" and finally "A ghost!" These answers will give you a stat layout of -2 Brawns, +3 Brains, +1 Hustle, 0 Guts, +2 Charm, and -1 Occult. There is one more optional step: Using the Lemon Squeezy dice. They are the easiest dice in the game and will drastically increase your chances of an X rank, but I DON'T RECOMMEND USING THEM because it's less fun. Another thing that I DO NOT RECOMMEND but is available for those who don't care is that any and every scripted attack can be rerolled by going back in dialogue on any dialogue after the dice gui disappears but before the dialogue ends; in the same line of thinking you can use the back button after seeing the damage of a non-scripted attack to decide if you want to use Karma to reroll. A final tip I don't consider cheese is when your super close to winning you can exhaust your party members or even let them die in order to conserve turns as it won't matter if you win before you're punished.

Base game bosses

Madhouse: Your most important party members are Jamie and Atlas. Jamie's Spirit Blaze is infinitely better than their Skull Cracker and it will be your main dps. Whenever you have 3 or more stamina you'll usually be using this move. Atlas main role is to spam Lore Dump and lock Madhouse from ever getting a turn unless you want him to. After using Lore Dump the strategy becomes pretty loose. MC should only really use Focus and Cheer (on Jamie) but if you make a mistake you can use Heart Out to stall an extra turn. You should be using your extra turns from Lore Dump to restabilize your resources or set up a powerful attack. Stalling forever with Atlas is an effective strategy but it wastes to many turns. In order to achieve X rank you should make use of Taro's Tuna Defender to tank attacks whenever you feel comfortable. Taro's only other use is to use Pounce to restabilize your stamina economy. Don't be afraid to use Cheer on Jamie even if they are at max HP.

Mr. Walker: The strategy for this boss is much simpler. Your first goal should be to murderlate Mr. Walker. August can easily do this with Onslaught. Once Mr. Walker is down, Lantern will waste it's turn healing him. Whenever Mr. Walker gets up, use August to get him back down. In order to keep August's stamina stable, whenever Mr. Walker is revived and August can't use Onslaught without exhausting, use Sleight of Crowbar as a budget option, or if Mr. Walker is low enough you can use Bite Back. Keep in mind Bite Back only activates once even if Mr. Walker attacks more than once. Oz is your main attack against Lantern. Use Silver Stab and use your Karma frivolously in order to proc his 11+ effect. You should use Bandage Wounds if you are out of Karma even if everyone is full HP because the effect is so potent. Since Oz will almost always be focused on Lantern and August is focused on Mr. Walker, MC's job is clean-up. MC should take action in these scenarios: in order to keep stamina levels stable, in order to finish off Mr. Walker and conserve August's stamina, and finally if you are confident you can squeeze in an extra attack against lantern without consequence. Usually you want to use an Sleight of Crowbar or Focus. If you make a drastic mistake, stall for energy using Glare and/or Howl.

Madhouse vs. Jamie: This strategy is a loop of moves, and the loop should rarely ever be broken. Use your better judgement before differing from the cycle; use only Cheer Madhouse or Idle only when out of Karma if so. Here is the gameplay loop: Kinesis, Not The Face, Noxious Fist, Heckle, Not The Face. Generally, don't break this loop even to heal Madhouse the first time because you can probably pass the Fright For Your Life! check if you've been conserving your Karma. I recommend also using Karma to succeed the Silver Grasp check if need be. Once Jamie is on his last life and is low enough, you might want to exhaust Madhouse for an extra Kinesis if you know it will win you the battle in order to save turns and guarantee X rank.

EX Bosses

Madhouse EX: The same strategy for Madhouse works here as well, albeit it is less forgiving. Consider using Taro's Tuna Defender to get her under 5 hp and buff Pounce if you are feeling anxious about getting the X rank in time.

Madlas EX: The Madhouse strat works here as well, but you can only use Taro's Tuna Defender to tank hits. This means waste as little turns as possible on the defensive. Taro's Jeer is effective at keeping Madlas EX's attacks at bay. MC should spam cheer on Jamie who should spam Spirit Blaze.

Mist(er)walker EX: I actually consider Mistwalker EX to be easier than Mr. Walker because you have Jamie. MC is almost entirely useless in this battle and is only good to balance the stamina economy. Other than that use August on Mr. Walker, Oz on Lantern, and Spam Spirit Blaze with Jamie as it hits all targets. Prioritize using Jamie's attacks before others so that Jamie isn't wasting any stamina. You should probably reset the boss if Jamie's Spirit Blaze + August's Onslaught does not down Mr. Walker in the first round before Mr. Walker attacks.

Jamie EX: Literally the exact same move loop again works here, but this time there's no MC who was borderline useless in the first place. DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THE ATTACK LOOP IN ORDER TO GET A GUARANTEED WIN.

Robo-Atlas: Once again Jamie shines as an excellent attacker. Jamie should spam Hellhound Hurricane this time however. Start off the battle with Sabotage and then Inescapable Flex. The order is important so Atlas regenerates stamina. RESET IF YOU FAIL IN THE BEGGINING SEQUENCE as using Karma raises Robo-Atlas' difficulty and failing the move is detrimental. In this fight, most of the characters are actually useful for a reason or another. Prioritize attacks with Jamie so they can get to regenerating stamina faster. This fight is actually very forgiving because Jamie, Atlas, and August all have a stalling move allowing the other's to regenerate stamina; Jamie's even costs Karma which allows it to be used back to back if you really mess up. Though you should prioritize Jamie's Hellhound Hurricane, if you want to finish Robo-Atlas in a timely manner, you should use KinesisOmega beforehand. MC is useful for the move Jersey Tango which is a multifaceted high damage move and a better focus. August is mostly useful because he is used in Hellhound Hurricane, but his other use is to stall for stamina with Howl and if worst comes to worst Bite Back.

Also Madhouse and Oz are both incredibly attractive for entirely opposite reasons lol let me date them already... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEASE!!!

(10 edits) (+1)

You can also get X rank in both Madhouse vs Jamie if you lose, or at least I think so. The screen will say 'Jaime Turn Count' instead of just 'Turn Count'. In this case I think spamming Heckle is a good choice. The difficulty raises every time you succeed so eventually you will fail, and when you do Jaime attacks immediately. Madhouse should fail every saving roll here because of the difficulty and get his shit rocked.

Also a few side notes:

- Taro's Tuna Defender and Pounce synergies extremely well, and should be used as an opener-finisher combo. You should focus on Jamie and Atlas until both Taro and Madhouse are low on health.

- Robo-Atlas alternates his Guts stat between +3 and -2. Focus your attacks on even turns.

- August also has another use in Robo-Atlas, which is that he can deal heavy damage with little stamina if you use Parental Magic and then Onslaught. If things go right, combining that with Kinesis Omega on the first 3 turns should bring Robo-Atlas down to half his health by the time he gets to attack. Do notice though that this combo is unstable, depending entirely on Robo-Atlas Guts .And if you're on Demon difficulty, this would be hard to pull off, so using Jaime's Inescapable Flex beforehand should help with this.

-Murderlate.

Lovely addition TMD111!!! Taro's power is potent, but it's not reliable enough for a consistent X rank. Of course any time you've already gotten Taro into low hp for the extra damage do use it but do not rely on it for consistency. Unrelated side note which monster are you gonna go for?

Hmm I'm not sure what 'going for' here means but I'm gonna go with August anyway.

going for as in who will you romance lol

When do I get to date

(+5)

i wanna hug atlas untill he explose (i love him). also im waiting for the next update :3

(+8)

I loved this game so much. I need Mike Madhouse to be in MY house so I can kiss him daily. Dirty wet dogwater of a man I need him.

Only thing I had a problem game wise was the text and reading it. Loved the thought behind it but sometimes the flashing, glitching, and wiggly moving text made it hard to read.

Wish there was a feature to have the option to switch it off along with flashing. Having accessible features added would be super cool.

But, dogwater slimeball man keeps me going. I've replayed this game three times just to see that slimy disgrace.

Can't wait to see more OUGHH. So excited! I NEED HIM. GIVE ME THAT HORRENDOUS SORBET DISASTER.

Let me date the goatmommy goatdamn it

THIS GAME WAS SO AWESOME! i will definitely be playing this again when the next update comes out! i was so shocked when the mothman came during my dream lol! awesome work though :)

(+2)

Hey!  I'm so happy to see the next update, but I am having some problems.  The models of each character appear okay for a bit, but after a few minutes any new assets that appear, like character models or the background or special scenes like Madhouse hugging Robyn, are just a white box instead.  The only way I can fix this is closing the game and reopening, then selecting Start on the menu and choosing the chapter and section I was on.  However, for the madhouse hug scene, I never have gotten to see what it looks like, mainly because although leaving the game does act as a temporary fix, after a bit more of playing the game, the assets begin to stop loading again.  Therefore, when I reach the hug scene, the assets have stopped loading by that point and I just get a white box every time.  I wish this would get fixed because it really messes up the experience.  I'm playing the Android version of the game, if that helps any.  Please, PLEASE fix this at some point!

Will we be able to date Lex?

I hope so

i cant figure out how to get on the game

This has become unplayable on Android. It keeps crashing!

True, I can't even get to the story or actual game without it crashing!

Do you two have older phones? And have you played previous versions? If so are you loading from previous saves?

I have a Motorola (I don't know what version it is), and no, I haven't played any of the older versions, and trying to load a previous save still results in crashing (it crashes every time I select an option for what cryptid I would rather be)

Does it give you an error report? I'm seemingly unable to recreate the glitch

No, it just completely crashes, and closes the game.

I have the same problem, if you ever find a solution please tell me lol

My phone is decently old but I tried a newer phone and it still does it. Their both Motorola. And I have but it was on a completely different phone.

I don't know if you're aware but a discord hack seems to be going around using art and screenshots from this page and game.

I'll gladly share more info if you want but I don't want to share it publicly for obvious reasons.

this is very true. only found this real game thru one of the attack victims that pointed out the clear copied work. my account was attacked using this game art a month ago as beta game the scammers were making.

This game is fantastic, and I will definitely play any future updates.

The game so far has presented quite a few endearing and entertaining characters, along with a pretty unique combat system. This game is VERY good while having almost no barrier to entry. I am very excited to see where the game will go from here.

this game was so fun and entertaining, i wanna give madhouse and atlas a lil smoochie ><

i wanna give madhouse mike a lil kith

great & funny game =)
but I have to ask, um, will the full release have more mc customization opt? a body types? some hairstyles?
(btw it was very strange to receive a you-know-which-CG with a long haired mc cause my mc short haired this time xD )

Hello Im having a problem here. It keeps going black scree and crashing at the same spot every time. I have a save spot just before the options for searching the room in chapter 0 but it only shows a black screen Everytime. Tried chapter select but it didn't work a most of time. Finally got to the spot again and it black screens and crashes. Idk what's happening. Btw on Android. I would say its kinda slow but I'm pretty sure it's my phone on that part. it is like for 2014 sooooo.

(-1)

Will the game be translated into Spanish at some point?

i noticed a glitch while playing, whenever you do a roll if you go back once with your mouse wheel it will re-roll, unless you use a karma roll. also if it matters i was useing the moonlight duet dice

(+3)

Played through the first chapter and to say I love it is an understatement. I am a big fan of the art direction, the voice acting is subtle but just enough of an oomph to let you set the tone and feeling of each character. The gameplay mechanics are fun; I love all of the different stats and that no character is "locked" into a single archetype (i.e. just DPS; they're all SO fun). I cannot wait to see what's coming up in the next chapters!

I'm sorry, but can someone give me a little help i tried to get the new update of this vn but when i go yo download it, it says like, do you want to transfer this file again? So it means it won't get the update right? I just don't know how to do it qwq sorry im dumb

(1 edit)

On android right?

Yes on Android

Hello. First I wanted to say that the team being Criptic Crush has done an incredible job, I'm in love the style and the characters, I can see the love that was been put on making it. With that out of thew way, I would like to report a bug thats been really bodersome, where every time I have to role the dice for a skill test, It always lands on double 1's, it only rolls normally if I use karma to reroll it, the dice were normal in the first chapter, but after that its been like this ever since.

You seem to have snake eye sam enabled. Open the quick menu and on the top left you'll see a button you can press to change out your dice

(1 edit)

I'm actully amazed at my own dumbass, jesus, thank btw, and sorry for being stupid lmao

(+1)

hi! i downloaded the new version and started playing. i head to chapter select but for some reason the game just ends after the hangout with Mike. can someone please help?

(1 edit)

You want to start from the end of the graveyard segment, going into hangouts just plays out that hangout

okay! thank you!

really cute! I did character customization and then when I clicked "I'm done" It automatically sped through skipping every single dialogue taking me to the next chapter. I assume this is a bug related to tracking the user choices made on the character customization page. This is awesome though keep it up!!

(+1)

an update, finally! Hip hip hooray

Ive been loving cryptid crush so far; the game is so unique and has such amazing character design. Though during my playthrough of chapter 2 (around the time where Atlas and Tessa have a talk and it cuts back to the player leaving the room) this happens, it gives me the option to backtrack through the dialogue but nothing else works. Sorry if this isn't the proper place to post issues but it's where I originally found the game.

(+1)

Sorry we should have put a warning! So old saves don't work but we have a chapter select system that lets you hop back in where you last left off!

You just need to not open from an old save

Is there a way to get the character sprites and the CGS? i would love be able to set them as my wallpaper without a awful crop

If you pay $12 or more for the game, you get an artpack with it. Maybe that'll have what you're looking for.

o cool! i might do that soon then

(+1)

Sadly the art pack didnt have the sprites i was looking for, but now i got some cool art at least!

(1 edit)

You can just extract the gamefiles.rpa file, then extract the  images.rpa file to access the sprites and cgs. They have some images posted on their website as well.

If you haven't already finished up to the currently completed parts of the game, watch out for spoilers if you do this.

Great game, but I am getting this error during the middle of chapter 2.

TypeError: '>=' not supported between instances of 'float' and 'NoneType'

Did you load from a save from a previous version?

Wat does the full error report look like?

I did load from an old save. Here is the whole message.
